October 2016, Rolling Scissors held a ‘2 Day Long Hair Workshop’ at Norris Hair Supplies in Maroochydore. This workshop was open to all levels of skills ranging from Hairdressers wanting a refresh to apprentices and makeup artist, wanting to learn the art of long hair styling; whether it was for formals and bridal or photo shoots.
In these classes I had 5 lovely girls who were very keen to learn.
Day one consisted of learning the Basic & Beyond, which was learnt on mannequins.
Tash who is a make up artist wasn’t able to make the first day as she was going to be in Sydney doing a photo shoot; we had a one on one training day at my studio. This day was a full on day of teaching her the basics skills of long hair work, so when she came to the master class she was confident to do the class.
Judy, Chloe, Beck & Michelle all came to the first days course & the time just flew, they were all different levels of knowledge/skills. It was really interesting to teach them some of the tricks & ways that I have learnt & used over the many years have been working with long hair in this industry
On the second day we had real models, the girls all came to the Master Class with a style picked that they wanted to tackle, which we sat & discussed how they would approach it also the best tools & method to use to get the results they were after.
Melina Dee Make Up came in for the day & did the models make up,
Tammie from Elizabeth de Varga provided head pieces for the girls to choose from & incorporate into their style also Ben from Ben Connelly Photography did the fabulous head shots for the girls.
This course was such a fun experience for all of us, its great watching the girl’s reactions when they achieve the results they were after. This course has provided the girls with the confidence to tackle long hair in the Salon & in their everyday work.
