Things today are so different when it comes to choosing things for your special day & choosing your hairdresser is no exception. Years ago when I first started doing weddings you had Bridal Magazines & hairdressers portfolio to choose from, now you have Bridal Mags, Web Sites, Facebook, Instagram, Pintress, recommendations from your friends, workmates, photographers, dress designers etc. etc.
Where do you start!!!
The best start is to talk to your friends, workmates etc who have been already married ask them who did their hair, were they happy with the service they received, was it a happy or stressful event on the day, did they turn up on time. Next thing is to get onto the Internet & search those recommendations & any others you have heard about & see how these suppliers present themselves on the social media platform. Do you like what you see, is their web site mobile friendly & up to date, does it have the information you need to know before you contact them, does it have lots of pictures of work they have done & does it have testimonials from past brides. We all know brides spend hours on social media searching everything wedding. It is a great tool to help you plan your special day.
When you think you have found the supplier you would like to have with you on your day contact them either by email or by phone & ask are they available for your date, get a quote, what does their business offer brides, do they do free consultations if you want to come & have a talk to them about your ideas? Are they on the ball as far as communicating with you, do they answer you messages be it by email or phone promptly & answer any questions you may have? Do they come to you on the day? Do they offer all their confirmed Brides a complimentary trial to sort out your hairstyle before the big day or do they offer you the choice to pay for a trial before booking then if you wish to book them does that then become your deposit?It’s also important to know that they are experienced in doing wedding hair; it’s so different to doing everyday hair in a Salon & not a lot of hairdressers like doing weddings. My friends in the trade think I’m crazy as I love weddings, if you have a passion for what you do it will show in your work. Its also very important to know that they will have you all ready on time on the day, there nothing worse than being late on such a special day.
Why is there such a difference in pricing…….
Pricing is always a thing that will determine who you book with, everyone has a budget, there are girls out there doing wedding hair for as little as $45 & some are charging in the $300 plus bracket. I would question the lower prices as I would wonder what their experience in the wedding industry is & I would ask for a trial before hand even if you have to pay for it to see if they can do what you want on the day, how long will it last will it hold all night & still look stunning at the end of your reception. You really need to compare the prices & pick the best one that fits your budget.
An experienced wedding hairdresser will always know what would work best for your hair & if you have pictures of what you like they can replicate it for you, they also will be able to suggest a style to suit you if you have no idea of what you want & one that will suit your dress & anything you are wearing in your hair. They can also suggest a style to match the theme of your day perfectly to ensure you have the best possible results that makes you feel like a princess & help to make your day everything you dreamed it would be.
My last piece of advice in choosing your special hairdresser is to always go with a professional who has a passion for what she’s doing.
